02 sensor replacement

What is the recommended replacement interval for the o2 sensor? My car has the original one and I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to replace it. Where is the o2 located and how do I go about replacement ie. where is the harness connector located.

If it was like my 95 W124, it is under the passenger carpet, and then under a black plastic shield or housing IIRC.

Bosch recommends 100K on O2 sensors. I agree about replacing parts that are 'broken' but it's hard to test O2 sensors.
