91 300 se transmission shifting

The tranny would not kickdown shift for a short time, seemed like it would upshift faster than normal so I would keep it in 2nd or 3rd so it could get out of it's own way. Now it won't shift into gear without reving it way up then it feels like it starts to catch. I don't think this is good for it so it's parked for now and I'm driving my 69 bronco non daily. I've heard the b2 piston might need replacing. The MB drives great once it gets moving, and reverse is solid. Sorry if this post is already on here. Thanks
