				83 380sel starting problem

lately when i start my mb it will run for about 2 sec. then it will run like its running on a couple cyl's then stop. if i wait a few minutes and start it it will do the same thing. I did put a duel timing chain in it 2 winters ago but it just seems like the throttle hunts a little sometimes. Fuel pump?? I replaced the fuel filter. Thanks Bartman If i keep trying to start it it will run. (sooner or later) Last edited by bartmaninpgh; 09-12-2011 at 09:38 PM. |

Fuel accumulator, weak fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulator. All possibilities, and in that order....

Its connected to the fuel pumps and filter via a 3-part metal line underneath. Its up above them by itself in front of the rest of the stuff. Be warned, they are pricey....but critical to proper operation/starting.

Thank You...I found an aftermarket for $76.00. I might go that way.

Bart, it's OK to buy an OEM replacement part somewhere other than your local MB dealer, but I wouldn't recommend buying a Chinese knockoff just to save a few dollars.

The stock one is probably bosch, most of the other parts of the EFI are. If you arent sure thats what it is why not try a junkyard one? I doubt it would be more than $5
