There are several DIYs on this maintenance issue. Basically you need to unbolt the upper mounting bolt. Then raise the engine. unbolt the lower mountng bolt and slide the mount out. Depending on which model/engine you have it can be a little time consuming. Getting the wrench on the upper bolt can be a challenge. Usually the left side must be removed out the front which means dismounting (but not disconnectiing) the A/C compressor and pushing it out of the way. You need to remove the fan shroud since the fan blade with hit it when lifting the engine. Also, disconnect the battery since you will be working quite close to the starter terminals on the right side. Oddly I've heard that it is easier on a 4Matic than a RWD model.
Around here (SoCal) dealers get about $700 for both. Since OEM motor mounts are about $130/pair there's a pretty hefty savings.
