2005 CLK 320 HID headlights, can they be converted back to originals?
Just wondering if you can convert the high priced headlights in my 05 CLK 320 back to the earlier style headlight assemblies. The reason for this is I called for a headlight bulb and they told me it was 105 buck, that is ridiculous. I also don't like the idea of them having modules and all the other high priced items. How hard would it be to swap them back, are the plugs the same?

If the car is original with Xenon, it would be pretty hard. It's unusual to have a Xenon go bad, I would just bite the bullet and hope it doesn't make a habit of blowing a xenon bulb. I would also check alternate sources for the bulb, think you are overpaying a tad. Check some of the normal sources, eBay, Amazon, etc, I'm sure you can do better.

If your car came with factory HIDs then there is really no point in going back to Halogen.
