I just got my 450 sl aligned, and was told by the shop where I had it done (a local tire shop) that the rear wheels were not at all adjustable. I'm curious if they were right. Does anyone know?

I know that is the case with the SE and Sears keeps on insisting on a 4 wheel alignment. I took my car to an independent and saved the charge of a 4 wheel alignment. They can adjust the front somewhat to line up to the rear if really necessary. Should not be necessary unless there is some damage to the front or rear.

The term 4 wheel alignment DOESN'T mean that you (can) adjust all 4 wheels! IT means that if you can adjust all 4 then they do, but also on cars without adjustable rear that when the front is adjusted they compensate the front end alignment for any error in the rear!!
IN other words the rear alignment guides the car & you use the steering wheel to keep the car going straight!
