Heater Motor not pushing any heat.
Before just recently my blower motor would always be on, do to bad connections on the climate control unit.
Now the Heater blower motor is not turning on at all. After my 86 300E was parked for a few weeks I took it out for a drive and the Motor was not working I jiggled the key and presto she worked ( This has happened before.) Then the following day I started my car I noticed a terrible smell like burning oil or something... The smell was coming out of my vents. ( the heater motor was still running.) Later that night I started the car and the heater motor did not come on. I jiggled the key and still nothing.... I proceeded to drive the 35 miles or so home and every stoplight I jiggled the key a little... Still nothing. when I got home I turned the car off, Then Turned it back on and the motor came on and the smell was over whelming.. I rolled all the windows down and let it keep going the smell stoped and the motor was still pushing heat just fine. Today it is 28 degrees and My heater will not come on no matter if i jiggle the key or anything.. I don;t know what the smell was, I'm assuming that it is related.... I'm looking for some insight on what normally happends and what would cause that smell and if i am going to be without a heater for the winter (should i just sell it now or try and fix it...) Please let me know Currently I have no garage at my new place and it's getting colder. Jon- |
