Spring cups/shims -- Does it affect ride quality?
My 88 300TE sits too high at the front -- always has and its time to get it to sit level. The rear is fine, its just the front. I can almost fit my head through the wheel arch gap, its far too high.
I plan to cut maybe 1.5 coils off the springs to bring it down, but I am wondering if I also use the 8mm shims instead of the current 3point (18mm?) that are on the car right now. Will going down to the 1pt/8mm shims affect ride quality at all? Thanks.

No the shim won't affect ride quality as long as you have one in there. Remember that going from 18mm to 8mm will reduce ride height by 20mm because the lower ball joint sits further out on the control arm than the bottom of the spring.

Thanks for tip. I'll be conservative with first cut them ...maybe just one coil first then test and more off if needed.
Since the springs are not progressive, cutting by the small amount I want should make no difference in ride quality or spring rate.
