w140 s500 self leveling rear suspension

Hi all, I would just like to get some opinions on the ride height of my s500. I can decide if it is a bit low or not, is there perhaps a standard height say from hub to fender?? how do one know if it is right or not??

Another pic any ideas??

I have taken another pic, the car only has self leveling suspension not adjustable damping or anything, you cannot adjust ride hieght. What is the correct distance from wheel hub to fender unladen??

HELP TANDEM PUMP LEAK

Well guys I found the fault, the tandem pump is leaking hydraulic fluid, but not power steering fluid, as I see it the first part of the pump is the hydraulic pump for suspension and the latter part is the power steering pump.

My question is my tandem pump is seperated from the resovior that hold the power steering fluid, there is a pipe that goes from the resovior to the pump. The replacement pump I can get has the power steering resovior attached to it, but the front part (hydraulic pump for sls) is the same. I attach a few pics of the replacement pump.

Can i remove the resovior from the replacement pump, is this possible and then just fit the fitting from my old pump on in order to make the replacement pump work.

The other option is to split the replace ment pump and just use the sls part of it.

Please i need urgent advice!!!!

Sounds like you have the wrong replacement pump. I've seen threads on rebuilding the original pump and replacing the seal. The OEM pump is very expensive. There's a member on Benzworld.org, eddie a, that might have a good used one. He's a good guy you might give it a try. By the way, the ride height is adjustable. The link that hooks to the rear control valve from the chassis is adjustable. A 10mm wrench is all it takes.

Problem Sorted

I got a replacement pump from the breakers yard came of an S500 with 92k miles on. Fitted the new pump(what a royal pita), same time replaced motor mounts old ones were finished at 90k miles!!

Car rides much beter now with a bit of increased ride height, but the diffrence the new mounts made, man o man, not a vibration smooth as melting ice, I even think that the gearshifts are smoother, is this possible??
