'84 190 Sunroof
So, I have heard working on the 190's Sunroof is very difficult. Anyone tried to replace a seal and motor with any luck? It's pretty much sealed shut and wonder if it's worth the trouble to get working again? All of the other electrical (except headrest adjust) works perfectly. -Thanks!

I believe it's the same design as in the W126, and if it is, it really isn't as bad as made out to be. Seal is a bit tricky (speaking from W126, remember), if I could go back I'd have it professionally done to spare the agony. the back edge's clip is riveted, and you have to drill out the rivets and put in new ones to do it 'right'. The arms usually are what snap, but I think the 84 only has sliding function, no tilt?
In your case, it could just be the motor and lack of lubrication (expen$ive at the dealer, but only stuff that lasts)... Worthwhile endeavor in my opinion; I love having it open!

Working on the sunroof is not particularly difficult . . . if you have a manual guiding you. Either the W201 Chassis manual (print or CD) from Mercedes or the Haynes should be worth the purchase.

84 190 sun roof
Thanks for the insight.., I think it's a slide only, no tilt. Unfortunately the Haynes manual doesn't provide any diagrams for the sun food, saying it's "very difficult" and you need "special tools". Anyone know if the Chilton Manual has the sunroof schematic?
