yakima 1a on a w123

I need some help installing these..
I bought some used 1A raingutter mounts and had some older 48" yakima cross bars. ARe the 48" too short?
For those of you that have the 1A gutter mounts, do you keep all of the rubber(footing) and plastic (spacer thing) on? I've tried to mount these but when I screw them down, the claw/hook thing doesn't sit inside the door. It hooks just underneath the chrome trim. The only thing I can think of is that I need longer bars to get a better angle/bite??

thanks

I have a Yakima rack for my W123. I think you're OK with 48" bars, let me check.

I do believe the rubber feet are supposed to hook underneath the chrome raingutter, so you should be good there. Besides, door won't shut otherwise. Don't overthink this.

You can call Yakima and they will help you; also, if you're missing any rubber or plastic miscellaneous bits they will send you some free of charge. Great racks, and when I talked with them about a Yakima bike trough I bought off eBay about five or six years ago they sent me the hardware needed to mount it up to my rack free no problem.
