Both the local stealers want about $75 for the dipstick tool. Anybody in the Tidewater VA area that can loan me one? I don't mind paying that much for a tool that gets alot of use, but thats too much for something I'll use maybe once a year.

They are all over ebay as well in that $25-26 range. They are exactly the same for all 722.6xx transmissions.

Or you can make one, the dimensions are on a picture in the W210 stickies at BW. If you decide to make your own, be sure you make one with BOTH ranges, though; 25C and 80C. Cold fill at idle after cycling through the gears should be at low end of 25C range. Once fluid is at 80C it should be between the marks on the 80C range.

And yes, the 80C means 80C. Fluid level is very dependent on fluid temp.
