Viper Car Alarm...causing havoc?

Just an update for all of you tuned into my now 2 week issue of not being able to fire up the Benz without a jump to the coil.

previous owner had a car alarm "professionally" installed in this baby. I ignored this fact until yesterday when I began to wonder if these things can cause a voltage drop in the ignition system......nah, right?

So I called the Viper ech support guy...he says no... they just interrup the starter....since my starter works, I'm guessing I'm on the wrong track. But...what do you all think about this? Are they strictly a shutdown mechanism of the starter itself or can they drain the 12volts when the starter is engaged? Or something similar....

Also, he told me that he heard about the transmission interlock switch doing something similar when going bad on cars. Another thing to wonder about.

Any comments re this? I'm all EARS!! Thanks, Dan
