'92 400E ignition coil specs
Hi, just bought a 92 400E and its running rough when it warms up. Can somebody give me the specs for the coils so that I can test them? I have no manuals yet for this car.

Nobody knows what the resistance should read on a multi-meter?

Never had this ...

What other things have you checked, thus far. What state is the ignition is generally? Why do you think rough running is a coil problem? There are many other issues that can cause roughness when warm, including many other ignition parts, fuel issues etc. Good luck. RayH |

Just do a google search for testing ignition coils. MB coils are no different than any others. I've not ever seen any testing specs put out by Mercedes. BTW, it's very unlikely that the coils are your problem. Have you read the fault codes on the 38 pin connector? That would be the best place to start.

Thanks for the replies. I have done alot of reading here on the forum, and decided to go through the basics first. Fuel system checked out OK. Ignition system is a mess. I cleaned up the caps and rotors temporarily, and hoped that the wires were allright. The coils looked original, so I swapped them out for two known good ones. Just got back from the test drive...WOW what a ride! I know it still needs a tune up but it runs 95% better.

Yep, one had white track marks on it. I'm still getting some vibration at idle under load, but I am hoping a MAJOR tuneup will solve that. I need to get a code reader for this car. It was built in 1/92 and does not have the LED reader or a check engine light.

I've never seen a 124.034 without a built in LED. You don't have an ancillary 8 pin connector? The proper way to "get" a code reader is to build it yourself.
