2005 C240 4matic
Sold my 98 ml with 180,000 miles. Bought a 2012 GLK 4 matic. I have to change the battery in my C240. I disconnected the cables, but the battery is held in place. There are 4 bolts in each corner, do they have to be removed to get the battery out?

Easier to take out when it is daylight and can see the bracket that holds the battery.......

On the C-240, there are 2 bolts on the inboard side of the battery tray. These bolts secure a plate, which clamps the inboard side of the battery. You will need an extension which is slightly longer than the battery is tall. Be careful of the positive terminal. Also, lot of sharp edges in that area.
Group 49 battery. Weighs a ton. Hard to wrestle it in and out of there.

There are 2 bolts that hold down the bracket. The bolt are towards the engine side of the battery. Also, make sure to remove the negative cable first and reconnect it last. Prevents the rear sam unit from blowing. Had that happen once, and that was a $600 mistake.
