+1 on who the shop is that tried to do that. I'm surprised he didn't try and sell you on "muffler bearings" for $500 :D

He was probably referring to a radial tire "pull". It's not uncommon, even with new tires. It simply means that one tire has significantly more rolling resistance than the others, resulting in a pull, or drift. The tech most likely had to spend some time moving the tires around to get the car to track properly and they wanted to charge you for the time he spent on it. At least the tech was conscientious enough to make sure he got it right. |
Mercedes Benz of Chandler, Arizona.
EDIT: Yes you are right, that's what the tech said -- radial pull...but the prior crap they gave me was still garbage. Once we were done with all the BS, the guy said the alignment guy had been at the dealership for a long time... and here she is transmission rebuild done, lowered in the front, 500E wheels, new tires and aligned all around: http://www.w124-zone.com/downloads/p...wagon-low1.jpg http://www.w124-zone.com/downloads/p...wagon-low2.jpg Next project...respray the headlight panel to match the body...Anybody recommend where I can get paint to match, or close enough to match mine? I have the Diamond Grey Metallic paint code 122 |
Looking - good! You must be happy.

Should be able to match the blend.
ASK around at all the Uber Expensive Body Shops. (Who they Use) There's a Gal here @ APC that can match paint colors by EYE. ['Doesn't know or care what the number or brand is,She looks at the Paint on your car and 20 minutes later you've got a custom blended can.] Oh and the Problem with the Stealership's Hearing Challenged employee... 9 inch 50 Watt Bullhorn Megaphone Loud Speaker Siren - TheLaShop Put in the Ear Plugs, drive into the service lane, roll down the Passenger window, and tell them what you think about their lack of service. |

did you get it aligned to 500e spec? or 300te spec? im confused.. last time i went to the dealer with my 300e, they wouldn't touch my car cause they said i had aftermarket wheels that weren't supported by mercedes.. (I HAD r171 SLK WHEELS!)
|
I was told the same thing on my 400E, but it ended up not needing the bolts.
FYI, I've never paid more than $100 for an alignment on a Benz - in fact, the dealer only charges $99 And yes, the US SmartFart is garbage. You could overlook its flaws if it had the Euro-equipped 69mpg diesel, but a Mitsubishi 4 that gets no better mileage than a Yaris, which is 5 feet longer? |
That is the sweetest looking wagon I have ever seen. I had my car done at 24 Hour Paint and Auto Body (lots of dents, dings, and paint fade). It came out great and cost $650.00. That was over a year ago. Still looks great. Not sure if that was a good deal or not but best I could find.

I didn't ask for the spec -- I just said align it, so I figure they aligned it to regular 300TE specs. I also lowered the front but cutting one coil off and putting the #1 spring shims in place and it seems they had no issue with that either.
He said on the notes car tends to follow the road lines, but I think that's because of the lowered suspension so not worried about that. As long as the wheels point straight, I'm good! :) |
sounds great, will try another dealer next time..
APS Tower Paint Company, Inc. i second aps tower paint, they used to be called tower paint, just give them your paint code and they can match to factory in a spray can, so all you have to do is clean the panel, and maybe prime it i don't remember but it comes with clearcoat and all that mixed into the can |
Ordered my spray can from APS right now. Hopefully everything matches!

I need order some for the color of my lower cladding.. Wipers plastic area needs repainted same with rear bumper!
