Dealer aligment -- $80 bolt kits? They on crack?

What the hell is this? Service guy said it may need $80/side bolt kits. I told him wont need it just align the damn thing. What a joke. Camber is not adjustable other than by a small fraction...are they trying to scam me?

Got a smart car as a loaner...no offense to anyone who has one but I'm sorry it's literally a piece of junk. No exaggeration. It had 256mi on odo and it drives horrible, interior is trash, exterior is trash and it's just overall garbage.

Paid $10 to rent it for today...they should be paying ME to drive this thing.

The eccentric Camber bolts he said

but I dont understand how it would make any difference...an arm yes! But not one of those bolts. I bet they will call and try to tell me they can't align it or some crap. I just don't want to get hosed here.

If it was any of your 124s then yes it is a scam. The 124s do not use the "camber bolts" as they first appeared on 202s. 124s have eccentrics

That's what I thought. Hopefully the "service guy" doesn't understand then. When the techs get under they'll understand.

Least that puts me at ease now.

Can't wait to dump this Fart car.

Well...won't be getting her back today -- they didn't even get started on the car today. Horrible service. I scheduled this appointment last WEEK, brought it in 8:30am this morning and they didn't even get to it.

I think I'll park this smart car down the end of the street so nobody thinks I would ever consider owning this pile of crap on wheels.

I told the service guy it better be done by noon tomorrow because I am picking it up on my lunch, or I'm gonna raise hell.

I would park that car at the end of a very dark alley. Come back in a couple hours to get it. When they ask what happened, just explain that you guess they should have had your car done on time..... Well, assuming it still has wheels. If not, then just explain that the Tart is ready for pickup and give them the location.

"Smart" as a name is like Chevy No-Va!

In all the Germanic languages, some variation on "smart" (schmerz in German, sma"rta in Swedish, and even "Oh that smarts" in some regional versions of English) always refers to "pain".

List price for a set of W124 eccentric bolts is $80 at my dealership. I can't imagine why they need to replace all of them, though. Perhaps your SA can give you an explanation?

My dealer gives our regular clients' C's and GLK's as loaners. We also have a few Camry's which we give to our infrequent customers.

Picked up the car right now...

They tried to pull some BS on me -- Total was $260. I said how does $140 turn into $260?? Argued about this and he went back to the camber bolt, and I told him it didn't need any, nor were they replaced and he corrected himself. He then said it was because the camber and caster was off -- I again told him that's part of the $140 so explain the other $100 still. Then he said the tires had radial wear after going to speak with the tech and had to be swapped sides -- I said tires are BRAND NEW they have 5mi of wear on them from driving to the dealer.

After about 10 more mins, I exhausted all of his BS excuses and he dropped the price to the original $140.

Car feels GREAT now. Tracks straight, drive amazing

Your Neighbors Will Want to Know...

Where did this happen? Did you cause such a scene that they will never try to pull that crap again? How can they try to pull this on someone who had already demonstrated that he wan't exactly ignorant about how his car worked?
