balance shaft

Traded a 2003 mustang on a 07 c230 sport upon test drive noticed cel on told salesman i would buy the car but asked him to have cel issue dealt with.Sent me to a MB dealership got the dreaded balance shaft news 5192.00 repair bill called salesman, and they told me to bring the car back and choose another vehicle. They gave me a scion xb as a loaner because they had nothing i wanted. A week goes by and they have decided to pay for the repair. My question is will the new balance shafts fix the problem for good? or are they still using the defective ones. And what other problems will this repair cause and are there any other issues affecting this model and make.I had no idea of this issue until i started researching this repair. The fact that this was not a recall is criminal very paranoid about owning this thanks for your feedback

Yes, MB found that the hardening process used was at fault & changed that process in 2008.

So a replacement shaft WILL fix that problem for good.
