Just purchased... 2000 E320 wagn 4matic
141K, looks and rides amazing. Had 4 new springs and factory installed tranny/torque converter last year, P/O had great factory maintenance records. I think $5,800 was a fair price for a rust free ride....
While driving home 600 miles C/E came on, P0161, and the temp gauge never got to 93 degrees, it rose just above 80 degrees and at one point on the Mass. pike doing over 80MPH the temp went below 80 degrees and stayed there. Is the left rear O2 sensor shot or is there something wrong elsewhere?

Most likely just a bad sensor...sounds like a nice car
Would change the t/stat.
