Roy, mine is a long story of backwoods, redneck hickism. I was born in Rockwood, TN to 17 yr old parents. Dad became a truck driver owing his qualifications to his 6th grade education. My great-grandmother taught me how to read at age 4. I have no clue as to where she learned to read but she did well with The Dick and Jane readers. I learned to memorize the spelling of words from her rather than the phonetical methods taught to my children by their Nebraska born and raised mother.

As hard as I try I can't spell words that I haven't memorized but I'v got it narrowed down to vowels so my spell checker can point me in the right direction.

Those who think spelling is relative to intelligence offend me but the guy had a good point about comprehensibility of a composition. The technical write-ups here are astounding. Your work in gathering and arranging the material is superb. I have only one issue with the DYI articles, they have led me to my real problem.

Is there such a thing as a automobile-hypochondriac?

Yes and no.

If you are keeping - driving the vehicle, and set a reasonable budget you can afford (and stick to it) = not for most people.
Note: There are many Happy owners/members driving a 240D - 300D with $28,000.00 total restoration cost, they consider what comparable car you can buy for that money today.

If you plan to sell it and recover all the money put into it, yes.

If the car is truly special/rare pre-war or a valuable collector, different rules apply.
