To anyone who has their gauge cluster out:

Can you look and see if you have a sticker on back the speedometer portion of the cluster?

It will look something like this:
420SEL:


If you do can you report back with the K value and the number above it as well as the car model?

Here is my best file picture from my 1985 300SD cluster. Unfortunately it is not clear enough to read the entire thing. It appears the the middle numbers are K-x42x.
