Yikes! 560SEL Exhaust Question....

Well it seems my center resonator mufflers have gone south, I hear a leak and it is coming from around there. So I ordered a new part from Phil, and it arrived today.

So then as I wanted to get this project going, I looked underneath and found that unlike the diagrams in Mercedes's manual the rear muffler pipes and the center muffler pipe are welded together, not clamped on an overlap. This looks suspect - is this factory original, or am I replacing a non-original exhaust?

This is a 1989 560 SEL in the U.S.

I can't see myself undoing a weld and rewelding the old rear muffler. This means I have to buy a rear muffler also?
