92 400E Strut question

Does anyone know what the difference is between Sachs, Boge, and Sachs-Boge brands of strut assemblies? The prices are alot different, but I am concerned about the quality of an OE strut.

What about going with the Bilstein HD's? They are cheaper and everybody uses them. You'll be very pleased.

Don't quote me, but I doubt there is any difference between them since I believe they are the same company.

I don't seem to be able to find them for my car. I'm sure that I want the comfort touring struts. I like a smooth fast ride.

HD shocks are noticably stiffer.
Not everybody's cup of tea.

They don't make a Bilstein HD set for the V8 124s. Promise. You have to mix and match. The new owner of my 400E mixed and matched Sachs and B-HDs on the 400E, and it rides like a charm. Same with my 129Sl. Bilstein HDs in the back, Sachs up front. I know for a fact that's the factory-spec on the SLs of that era. Prob the same for the 124 V8s

What about the Boge struts? Are they as good as the Sachs? They're about half the price. Then one parts site says they sell a strut assembly that is made by Sachs-Boge. I am confused. Any help is appreciated.

I ordered the Boge. I'll let you know how they are. I wanted to order them from Fastlane, but they only had one left.

Boge not available. I got the strut mounts though-Febi Bilstein with a sticker on it that says "MADE IN CHINA". So is there any alternative to the Sachs struts at 132 bucks each?

Why would the shocks not work for a V8 W124? Everything should be the same as the inline 6's...

The Boge struts for the 400E are out of stock everywhere on the net. They were advertised as around 69.95 each. I was wondering if there is a less expensive alternative to the Sachs strut at 132.00 each. I don't see anything in my price range except the Monroe OE struts. I don't know about those.
