1994 E320 No Start Condition
I have a 94 E320 that failed to start yesterday after stopping for gas. Before arriving at the gas station I noticed a misfire condition when stopped at the stop light. After filling the car with gas I got in and it cranked over but would not start. While cranking I noted that the Tach jumped from 1000 to 1500 a few times. I tried about 4 times to start it and finally gave up and called for towing. After getting the car home I tried to listen for the fuel pumps when turning the key on. The first 3 times I did not hear the pumps coming on until about the 4th try. Then I tried to start it and it started just fine. I shut it off and restarted it about 4 times with no troubles. I then noted the check engine light was on, so I checked the codes. I came up with the following:
on the built in light code 4, 17, and 26 on the #8 pin code 1 (no faults) on the #14 pin code 4. Not sure where to start. Just a little background on the car, it had the engine wiring harness replaced about 3 years ago, new OVP about 6 years ago. I am leaning toward the possibility of a faultly crankshaft position sensor, but don't want to just go throwing parts at it without finding out more from some others here that may have experienced the same situation.

Crank sensor OR fuel pump relay..You can swap the fuel pump relay for the high speed aux fan relay to see if that is the issue.
Of course tow bills are more $$$ than a crank sensor.

Just an update, it turned out to be the fuel pump relay. I heard this happens to be a common problem with the w124 and bought a relay about 6 years ago and finally had the chance to use it. So far it has been just over one month and no further problems.
