My 1988 190E 2.3 is very sick.
1998 190E 2.3, 100,000 miles Looks new, inside and out, when she is warmed up she can ride from Phoenix to L.A. and run smooth.
But the moment the A/C is turned on...if you come to a stop, the engine shuts down. She is burning quite a bit of oil...about two qts a week and in about 250 miles, so we know the valve seals are gone. Does anyone know of a site that shows the procedure for changing the seals? And should I also be contemplating valve guides? I never had a problem with the A/C before, but when I was injecting a can of R134a just now, the gas was going in just fine but when the can was almost empty, the engine died, (it had never done that before), now it will run fine if the A/C is OFF, but the moment you turn the A/C on and the car is stopped, the engine dies. If you are running over ten MPH and the A/C is on the car runs o.k. but the moment you come to a stop, you better turn the A/C button off or it will die at the intersection. Was that enough clues??? Thanks to all in advance.
