Differences in 86 M103 and 93 M103 cylinder heads?
Hello,
I am attempting a 3.0 swap from an 86 M103 without EGR into my 93 2.6 which has EGR. I am wondering if there are differences in the cylinder head for EGR in the 86 vs the 93? As far as I know, the EGR plugs into the intake manifold of my 93. Could I simply just move my 93 intake manifold and bolt it into the 86? |

Another point is the smog pump. Will there be compatibility issues?

You are correct in that its all in the intake and exhaust manifolds, the head has nothing to do with it. I've never looked close at a non EGR intake to see if the bung is still there and threaded but I'd check to make sure it isn't before swapping intake manifolds.
The air pump pushes air into the head through a port in the head between the manifolds. Seem to recall that non smog pump engines have a freeze plug in that port. Not sure if the machine work is there if you remove the plug.

If the heads are the same it sounds like there's the answer. Simply use the manifolds from the original engine.
Hope this helps.
