Proper weight of refrigerant? Decal is missing

How can I find the proper amount of refrigerant required for my 98 E300D. I just had an indie replace my compressor and evaporator. He recharged with 1.7lbs. System seems to work acceptably. 105 F. ambient and vents are 53 F.

When the car was hooked up to the recharge machine I had 35psi low side, 250psi high side, 83 F ambient at idle (600) rpm. At that time I got 48 F vent on med blower speed.

Indie says without my A/C decal he prefers to be on what he knows as the lower weight of recharge. He knows the window of recharge to be between 1.7lbs and 2.3lbs.

I have my own gauges and could add another small amount of 134A if it would be worth my while.

Car is acceptable inside going down the highway, unless you are sitting in the direct sun. Can I do better with an additional amount of refrigerant?

MB spec is 1Kg, approx 2.2 lbs.

Does sound like you need another 0.5lbs
