seatbelt/headlight/key warning buzzer
This past weekend the warning buzzer on my 88 300TE started to sound very sick then went out completely. While losing this annoying noise is not really a bad thing, I would like to trouble shoot the problem and fix it just to avoid the possibility (inevitable) of a dead battery from the lights being left on. Where is the relay/buzzer located, is it a simple fix (R/R) and can the buzzer be replaced with a different tone? What other systems are bad also? By the way is this a common failure on the 124?
Thanks in advance. Ed C. |

You have to replace the unit. It is not just the buzzer. It is a rectangular box about the size of a cigarrete pack. I do not have the part number, do an inquire with Fastlane or Partshop.
Obviously the instrument cluster has to come out. With the part in hand, there is no way you can miss it. I do not see a way to change the tone of the buzzer. They are not too expensive (if I remember correctly). It was around $50-60. Mine just quit one day. No problems with the new one. Good luck! ![]()
