126 no fuel on # 1 ? help!

on my '85 380 SE
I have just installed a rebuilt head,along with new cam,lifters,valve seals,injector seals,head gasket, & intake manifold gasket.
( I only did the one side because the other side was done along with chain and rails 10k ago before I bought the car)
I drove it for the first time today,
It runs pretty good at higher speed (over 40)
but is rocking at idle.(it wasn't before)
I pulled the plugs and number 1 is white,as if its running lean.
all others look fine.
I changed that plug,drove it,
pulled the plug,looked the same.
I think that number one is not getting fuel?
I had the 4 injector lines off,and have tried "bleeding them"
could it be something with this?
also, getting a little valve /lifter noise on the redone side,
I am assuming it will need the valve lash checked/adjusted?
any help appreciated!

The system doesn't need bleeding.

I would look for a vacuum leak around the cylinder in question.

How about swapping injectors with another cylinder and seeing what that does?

missing 126

well
I pulled all 4 (on the right side) injectors, inspected and reinstalled.
I have all vacuum lines hooked up correctly,I put in a new set of plugs, checked timing (1/2 a degree off of TDC)
Still have a terrible miss in I think the number 1 cylinder.
The manual says something about a spray to find vacuum leaks.
does anyone know a good product I can get locally? autozone, walmart, parts store?
or any other suggestions,I want to drive my 126 with it running right!

126 running bad

Hi Sixto
tomorrow I will pull 2 injectors and switch them,
I noticed that the injectors were a bit crudy on the spray area (bottom) today,
I wonder if them sitting on the bench for 2-3 months may have caused them to clog up?
my number 1 spark plug still is very "clean" compared to the rest?
thanks for the help,
mark

Could be related to engine vacuum. Could also be a misrouted vacuum hose to the cabin.

I'll check those tomorrow,

Have you checked the vacuum at idle with a vacuum gauge? It should be some steady number between 18-20 (in Hg?) at operating temperature. A lower reading, fluctuating reading or other anomaly could mean any number of things including a vacuum leak.

Does you car have an economy gauge (which is essentially a vacuum gauge)? Is it acting any differently after the head job?

You asked about what spray to use. I've used carb cleaner with no ill effect. Just not into the intake stream. Short bursts directed at the head-manifold interface should be fine. Keep the spray away from the plug wires to the extent you can.

Try swapping the #1 injector nozzle with another cylinder and see if the lean condition moves. This will tell you if the problem is with the nozzle or not. Good luck. Joe Gagatch CMAT

update

ok,
I think I have the Number 1 cylinder running the same as the others.
(the plug looks the same) so no more running lean on the cylinder (for now)
-THEN-
I pulled all injectors/lines
took apart,cleaned thouroughly,and reinstalled.
The car is running the same!
which is bad.
It seems as though there is not enough fuel pressure on the right side.
when I crack the injector lines (up top) on the left side , the engine starts choking,
if I do this on the right side injector lines,
it doesn't make much,if any difference?????
(also ,climate control acting up)
I can drive the car ,but it can hardly get out of its own way from take off!
any help greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
