Converter question

The converter on my car E 320 1994 have a lot of side to side movement in the splines that fits on main pump and input shaft in transmission 722,5 that is when converter is of from the transmission. When converter is mounted on the transmission there is no movement. Is it supposed to be like that.

Yes that is normal. Infact all torque convertors are like that.

rebuilt the whole drive train on my 79 300D 5cyl 2 yrs ago after some bozo burned up the tranny towing it wrong.(We cleaned and reused the torque converter and it worked fine) BUT the immortal engine went Tango Utah on me a few weeks back ( a bearing malfunction of some type) I'm having the engine completely rebuilt and I want to either rebuild or replace the TC while I'm in there. Anybody know of a good Reman or Rebuilder? Also while the engine's out.> is there anything I absolutely should replace before we put it back? Thanks

Sun Valley Transmissions in CA does a good job with them. Around here we have a place called Zeeland Transmission who has a guy that can rebuild the old ones properly.
