My 300E spins them, no probs.

My SL won't smoke them at all, it just sits in the air fishtailing for about a block until second catches with a nice rip for a few feet, and I'm talking new 255 tires. But maybe I'm spoiled with 322 hp.

I don't think my 560SEL can, but I never really tried. Maybe a brake stand in 1st gear start ;) Fast enough tho' 0-60 in about 7.6 secs. My 1970 Olds Toronado GT (400HP) will lay at least a 20 ft patch and squeals out of 2nd gear (car weight 4600 lbs). Most people are surpised to see this in a FWD car, lol.

My '63 Galaxie (non stock 351 Cleveland, and 4:11 gears, now owned by my bro) burned rubber in first three gears, what a hoot.

Doing "Burn Outs" in German cars is BAD!:eek:

I get a nice "screeeech" when hitting the gas hard away from stoplights, at 3/4 throttle. If the car is floored, it will spin the rears nicely from a start, but they catch quickly and the W126 moves down the road.

W126, I'm sure a 560SEL could leave a nice black patch. You should find a secluded road out near Middleton or Verona and just hammer it from a standing start. :cool:

My 1990 UK 190e 2.6 5 speed manual will happily leave big black lines on the road if I so desire... My mates gifted me with 'best burnout of the day for a street car' (just using throttle, no brakes) at a RWYB at the drag strip last year! :D

My 93 400 SEL can on dry pavement from a dead stop. Tires are not new but half way there, only a year old.

I don't do it often though, I take care of my baby.

I try to avoid 'burning rubber' but my 1960 220S finback 'Miss Daisy' still can do it.
Last October, when I picked up the car from the 2 daughters of the original owner, I had to back the car down a steep driveway with brick retaining walls close on each side. I got too close to one wall and, unused to this clutch, made a loud screech like a getaway car. I got away from the wall but probably scared the ladies half to death!

I have bald tires on my 300E, i once went about 3sec on dry pavment. Now on rain i could hold a steady 1hr (if i floored it).:D

Well my tires are new, 2 months old and I get a lot of wheel spin in first gear when a smash the gas pedal even if the car is moving :)

The 500 could do it like there was no tommarow It was often a problem when you were trying to get into traffic quick. It was not as bad with the firehawks or mxv4s on.
I can do it in the BMW and have it on tape. But thats just cause i dumped the clucth at 5,000 rpms

on a wet road, maybe. around a corner the tail can get unstuck under full throttle (although this is not stricktly wheelspin ..)

hehehe.... my 300E doesn't spin from a start, it just kinda sits there minding its time untill it decides to get past 3k rpm, then my rear-end flys out from the 1st-2nd shift, and I have to lay off the accelerator to keep from doing a 360.... I attribute this to some type of suspension problem... don't know what it is though....

My '92 300TE can do it, especially in the wet. In Seattle, we have lots of that and also lots of worn concrete pavement -- exposed aggregate -- smooth stones -- nice and slick in the wet. My old Michelins were not to be trusted, I could spin on a slight incline from 20-30 MPH while kicking the throttle and from 4th down to 2nd (e.g. freeway on ramp)(dry or wet). My Bridgestone RE950's have almost none. Almost exact same story on my '80 VW Rabbit Pickup (with '85 GTI motor). Hated the old Michelins, love the new RE950’s.
