I had a Cadillac Eldorado with FRONT wheel drive that had most of the weight on front wheels. And we're talking some major weight, almost 5800 lbs total. This car had such good front wheel traction that it was the only car that would go in 2ft of snow back in Pennsylvania winters, without snow tires or chains. Are you ready for this? You could spin the wheels down to the rims if you wanted to! 500 ft lbs of torque. I seriously considered dropping one of these in a 380se I just bought. Don't think the rear end could take it, though.

Only before I bought new tires, but also only when the pavement was wet or snow coverd, or ice covered, or ...

Oh by the way an A-class doesn't count, because its front wheel drive!

I could do it in my old '86 300E but seem to be having a hard time in the '93 300E 2.8 I have now. It takes off rather conservatively but once it reaches 3000 rpm it goes like stink. Torque curve of the 24 valve engine I guess. I just testdrove my friend's 2001 CL500 with AMG package last night. Whoeeeeeeeee...
Start saving boys and girls! No wheelspin though, ESP and all. Could have disabled it (switch on dashboard) but there was a bit of snow on the ground and paintwork is expensive these days.
What a car.

My 1998 Crown Vic Police Interceptor would leave a long patch of rubber if you floored it from a stop with the traction control off, and would melt the tires if you lightly powerbraked it.

My old 85 500SEL (US Spec) would leave a strip also.

The only way my 300SDL leaves rubber on the road is if you floor it and make a left turn at an intersection.

The dodge Caravan we have will spin the wheels for ever becuase of the wieght transfer.

Massive burnouts created in the E320 and 300E.:D :D Gonna try bleach one day.

I have heard tranny fluid is great for smoke

My 300D will not do it from a standing stop in a straight line but it is quite easy to peel out around a corner. When I let somebody new drive my car they usually leave a little patch on accident around the corners. My car starts off rather mildly, as it is a diesel, but when the turbo kicks in it just takes off.

The 280SEL won't peel out on anything dry. Ever.

My c230 coupe (6sp) will do a massive burnout. I know because I watched the porter at the dealer burn em out in the service lane-with me standing right there. The other porter standing there kind of winced, and said "he's not to good at driving manuals". Unbelievable.

My 6.9 will!!

My 89 300CE with the 12-valve M103 has occasionally even chirped into second. ;-) Definitely a change from my previous long-term 85 300D, even with its turbo.

And I bet Aaron's 6.9 does a glorious job of it.

Not sure about the wife's 95 C280. I haven't tried it yet...

I drove a Hyundai Accent 1.3 once, no matter what... it just wouldn't lose traction! It's sooo slow! I think it's slower than my 300CD... The whole thing shakes over any imperfections and vibrates at anything above 60mph on the highway.

I've had the 300CD swap its tail around... I made a U-Turn and hammered the throttle down. The first time I ever had to counter-steer. The body rollss soo much!
But, it was fun...

The W124 230E doesn't break traction that easily either. It actually has a 5-speed... but.. it just doesn't have that much power...

my 1983 300sd does this when it is in gear 3 on a wet road and gravel.
