W208 Climate Control
I just purchased a well driven 2002 CLK 430 coupe. One of the issues is no A/C. Tried to do a little digging before posting a bunch of questions. Here is what I have.
The EC light is on. I drove the car for about 20 minutes and then went through the diagnostic mode while still running and wrote the numbers down. 1 94 2 134 3 152 4 96 5 82 6 190 7 3 8 94 9 0 10 0.8 20 0 21 6 22 0 23 0 24 14.2 40 8 41 5 42 200 43 14 I realize that the compressor is not engaged. Is the #7 item mean it is low on freon? If that is the case, can I just put the gauges on an add freon? Will something need to be done to over ride the EC light and get the compressor to pump? Are there any other issues with my numbers? I understand that there are also trouble codes that can extracted from the unit, but I was either unable to figure that out or there are none. Any suggestion where should I start? Thanks, Chad |

For what it is worth, I replaced the compressor, expansion valve and dryer. The compressor was shot.
$300 later, not counting beer, The car now makes ice cream. |
