how to remove the lens/covers on these euro lights

it's a 1987 560SL, and I see dirt/dust coating the inside of the lens cover on the headlights....not obvious to me how to remove these without damaging something. I've found one screw in the upper corner of each headlight but removing it only loosens it a bit, something is still holding it in.

any ideas or experience out there doing this?

thanks in advance

dom

Dom,

Follow procedures (photo). When headlight loose, prise out the 4 clips (2 at the top and 2 at the bottom) and the glass comes off.

thanks!

great photos and instructions, turned out to be six clips, three up and three down on my lens covers but once I figured out how to remove the metal strip below the light, all else came out easy.

the "dirt" I had imagined inside was nothing but light coat of dust. The main culprits are pitting and dings from 15 years of use. Oh well. It was worth a shot.

thanks again for the photos and info.

dom
