Question The tale of two transmissions

Hi all, over the last few days I've been searching the forums to find out if a transmission out of a '92 500SL is interchangeable with a '92 500SEL. The SL has a 722.353 and the SEL has the 722.370. The tranny in my SEL is toast and I have a chance to get one out of an SL for a very good price.

I'm assuming the SL starts out in 1st gear since it's a sportier car, where as the SEL starts in 2nd for a more. Both transmissions have the same gear ratio's.

Does anyone know for sure.

Thanks.

I don't have an answer based on experience but ...

You might try checking on the part numbers on EPC. Probably not exact but similar with maybe only one pair of numbers differing.

If you mean 722.353 and 722.370, those are the model numbers of the transmissions. I mean the part numbers such as MB Part # A002 644 01 15 (hypothetical example).

Got it, Thanks. I'll research that tonight on the EPC.
