I have a '98 SL500. At the end of my warranty period and after numerous times to the dealer for correction, I was told that what was happening with my car was "characteristic of the '98 119 motor with the ME fuel system. No correction at this time." Now I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt to MB, but my car runs rough when cold and bogs down when coming to a stop. I don't feel that this is a "characteristic" as much as it is a problem . After talking to the MB Regional rep, I am now out in the cold as far as a solution, I don't know if I'll be notified in the future of an MB fix, and it seems like MB (through their rep) have kissed me off. Needless to say, I didn't expect this from a company like this.....any suggestions? Thanks

Not knowing what has been done already I doubt if THIS forum can help your problem! However the only items that control running conditions on these cars are air mass(sensor), engine temp, & the ME fuel computer. ALL of the M119 engined cars run well around here. Quality of fuel is important & in many areas the fuel quality is suspect because of emission LAWS.
Running poorly cold can be a result of oil viscosity that is too high, what weight oil is used by your service center?
