Well I've never heard of this. I don't think it's correct though. Obviously the engine is not going to start if the car is low on fuel, but the oil thing? I don't think so. I've seen engines started on newer cars without oil in them(don't ask) Anybody else have any input? I'd still like to think that you have a problem with your crank sensor. You've got a code for the sensor so I'd have to believe there is a problem. I've seen them fail once the engine is running, and it's been an intermittent problem. These sensors seem to develop a "dead spot" in them. Just my two cents for what it's worth.
