But are you really saying that there will still be freon in the system even after I replace the compressor, drier, and expansion valve?
The answer is no, there will not be any freon left in the system once you break those lines apart.

I recently replaced the evap on my w124 and I reused the existing expansion valve without any issues.

Actually, I just picked up a new ACDelco, which came in a GM box. And it appears to be well built.

I'd rather not play with the hoses, as they're not leaking and they look pretty good. But if I change my mind, I'll take them to a shop. Thanks for the advice.

Just flush the hoses. I have successfully used acetone to flush it out. It really cleans out the gunk, and evaporates quickly. Be careful with it, as it eats paint very quick.

Thank for all the advice.

A few final questions before I take this project on:

1) How much and what kind of PAG oil do I put in the new Delco compressor, which doesn't have any oil in it?

2) How about the drier? (AFAIK, the 107's take app. 2 lbs of 134, if that makes any difference).

3) The 107 Manual says to cover the Expansion valve with "no drip tape." Can I just use the Armaflex or Frost King pipe insulation tape that Home Depot and Lowe's carries?

Thanks very much for all the help, guys. It's been greatly appreaciated.

Bill
