560 SEL rear-end thunk, continued

hey guys;

Replaced the accumulators today, expecting my harsh, clunky ride to be smoothed out. I think it's better, but I still have a pronounced "clunk" in the rear-end, even when I roll over pretty minor bumps/holes. It's not only the sound; it's a harsh ride.

what gives? what are the next things to check? I inspected the rubber on the struts, which seemed ok. My exhaust is tightly hanging as it should. I just can't figure why I still have the clunk.

thanks in advance.

it is level. FWIW, the rear end jumps right up when I manually move the arm of the valve attached to the sway bar. I'll check the diff. mount; I checked it out briefly today; the rubber seems soft still, but perhaps it's lost it's "volume?"
