W202 1998 Moonroof Sunroof problem

Hi Guys,
Coming home this afternoon I opened the sunroof rearwards only to find it would not close again. So it appears the switch is only working the motor to open not close. I manually closed it again, and agian it would open with the switch but not close. Could someone advise me if it is likely to be a switch problem or a motor problem. Or how to test the circuit, I smell a burnt electrical smell when using the switch.
Mark

In the US version that is controlled by the CAN bus. I don't know about AUS. Do you have the non-metal key?

Thanks Guys.
I'm pretty sure the motor is ok as the roof will lift up at the rear but will not reverse. However if I move the slide switch to the rear it comes down the moves rearward but will not go forward back into place. Mine is the non metal key which also controlls windows and sunroof. When I closed the windows using the key the sunroof again didn't work to close but will to open.
I'll have a closer inspection of the switch today.
Cheers Mark

Okay, it is the switch dome light assembly, as I took it out and jiggled it and the switch worked. It appears the switch is part of the entire dome light assembly. Has anyone taken one of these apart to see if it is repairable? Also the entire assembly vibrates when it has power to it. Is this normal?
Cheers
