I would say the easiest way to obtain a weird part like that is the dealership. You might pay a little more for it, but how much could something like that cost? Definitely helps that you have the part number. If the part number doesnt come up, you can tell them where it came from and they will show you the diagram on the computer so you can verify.

What is wrong with it?
Do you mean this part in the picture I posted?
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/324297-om603-head-removal-down-connection.html I think it is attached to the cylinder block when the coolant is routed to warm the fuel, not the oil cooler. There is only 2 places that is can leak, unless it is cracked which is unlikely. The thread or the o-ring. 1) If the thread is damaged , I would suggest to JB weld or RTV it. Thread it back in. There is pressure from the coolant but JB weld should hold. 2) Sand down the inside and replace the o-ring where the fuel cooler fixture is inserted. Make sure to install the clip back in.

If it is the part shown in the picture then YES. Just block it off, the head block is aluminum so do not over-tighten it.

The coolant is routed to heat the diesel fuel. The heater is mounted next to the engine mounting arm on the right. It is a funny looking thing with 3 to 4 hoses coming out. Some members here by-passed the heater by rerouting the fuel line to the primary filter. If you block the coolant then it is SAME as by-passing the heater.
If I were you, I would try to make it works, unless it is pitted thru which I doubt. If the thread is OK, then the problem probably the inside is pitted and the o-ring cannot seal it. Have you tried to sand it down and get a bigger o-ring? My last resort is to find a snug plug and JB weld/hammer-ish into it. The coolant is max at 20psi, I think. So any plug would hold. No harm done this way as you can always replace it by threading it out. This is just me but the final decision is yours.

I have decided to remove the fuel pre heater altogether, and screw a bung into the head where the heater was attached , does anyone know what kind of thread or what i could use to block it off. thanks
