2000 E430 4MATIC (Thinking Ahead)

As I previously mentioned, I gained profound appreciation for the W124 (300E 4MATIC 253,000 miles and 400E 150,000 miles). Therefore, having purchased the 2000 E430 4MATIC I am preparing a list of things to do / check as a sort of pre-preventive maintenance and looking ahead to preserve this one better than I did the 300E, which I drove. I am still mulling over what to do with the 400E (since, I know that with 150,000 miles it is hardly broken in).

The two main integral concerns I have for the 2000 is suspension and transmission.

Is there an upgraded suspension paradigm that I could look into, assuming no problems with the spring perches - what upgraded springs, shocks, axles, etc., could I put on this vehicle to preserve the ride integrity. Granted, where I live the roads are "horrible". This is why I had to stop driving the 300E. So, in that respect, such upgrades would even further protect the vehicle (and its occupants).

Second, same question re: transmission - although I don't believe there is anything that could be done to the sound transmission. I will check to see if it needs basic maintenance.

Third, basic engine care - plugs, harmonic belt, etc. Assuming these latter two issues don't need immediate attention, which I do not think they do based on my feel of the car to date, what would be the way to go about starting to "upgrade" the suspension platform (wheels, shocks, struts, springs, axles, etc....).

Thanks, I am very appreciative of the feedback. If there is a more appropriate forum for this post, please let me know and I will post there and stop bothering you all.
