ASR/ABS light on dash
Ok, on my 1997 E420, I have read a few threads and can replace some stuff (brake light switch) but I am curious about the "ASR Off" switch on the console panel. Once the light comes on in the dash housing would'nt/shouldn't the thing turn off if you hit the "off switch" and be able to toggle that back and forth to an on/off position or am I barking up the wrong tree?

ABS Light is often activated by a faulty OVP Relay.
I was able to fix this issue on my dad's W124 with a new relay. |

no
The switch turns auto slip reduction On oor OFF. The ASR light is indicating a fault with the system.
When I replaced the battery in my 2002 E320 (same body), this triggered the ABS/ESP light (similar functions as ASR). There was a very easy reset for this, although I am not sure I remember what it was. If you have very recently had the battery disconnected, with engine runnibg, try turning steering wheel lock to lock a few times. The reset was something like that. |
