W201 lock cylinder guide
Since the weather has cleared up a bit, I started work on the 190d 2.5 I acquired a few months back. There are a few problems I am figuring out and one of them is the door locks.
Both the front locks just spin when the key is turned in them , not operating the locks. So reading a few posts here , I figured out that its the Lock Cylinder guides that are the culprit. Since both the locks are doing this, I cant just interchange them. I took out the driver's side lock for confirmation . Along with it, I found a few clips that were down in the shell of the door. I don't know where they came from but i suspect since the window doesn't roll up or down , they have something to do with the window. So, any idea where i can lay my hands on the guide alone ? If any one has the guides , I would love to purchase them alone as I do not want to buy the whole thing from the dealer and would also like to keep just one key for the doors and the ignition. I am attaching photos of the parts and will be posting a wanted add in the classified too. Any information will be very helpful. A thread about some one offering machine made copies of just the pins . I don't think the person is around here any more : http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/94058-190e-door-lock-tumbler-can-separated.html P.S : Working on recovering the dash with new vinyl since the original one was cracked and ugly. Will be posting the procedure and results depending on how good it turns out. Also, since the dash is out, doing checking all the A.C system vacuum lines and pods... so far , its a mess but once i figure it out, i will post results here.

thanks
Thanks, whunter . I decided to go the key-less entry route. I already ordered a cheap unit online and will follow the directions here on the forum to install it. It easier on the wallet and also dosen't involve much work.
