Telephone Aid SOS warning S430 Shift lever
Greetings to the brain trust. Today I tackled the interesting job of replacing the broken plastic component for the shift lever lockout on my 02 S430. Was very easy to do and I used the aluminum replacement part to do it. Everything went as usual.......the forward bolt holding the shift lever in place had been seated in so much locktight that when I used enough force the car turned but the bolt did not. Ok maybe not that dramatic but the bold twisted off the what is now the stud still locked tight into the car. That was easy to overcome and I now have a functioning shift lever lock out. I also have a warning on the instrument panel telling me "Tele Aide SOS ". Every thing seems ok. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the SOS warning, but when removing bolts held with locktite use a soldering iron on the bolt to warm then soften the bond. ( 250 - 300* F ) For more larger bolts in steel / aluminum, a torch works.

You don't say if you have a subscription to Teleaid or not. I would push the Teleaid button (SOS button) and when they answer just tell them the light is on and you don't know why, hopefully they will assist you with it. Worth a shot. Worse case is they say they won't help you unless you resubscribe.
