AC diagnostic help W201 2.6L

My ac is not working, I want yo put some dye in it. R12 is not so easy to come by, can I put some of that freeze12/dye or something cheaper and easier to come by to help find the leak?????

No.

Freeze 12, cleverly named to confuse you, is about 75% r134 & 25% something-pane (propane? butane? something). r134 is not compatible with the mineral oil now in your system. Add Freeze12 and your compressor will die in the future.

Either top up r12, or have shop capture the r12 & flush the system & add only Freeze12 plus PAG oil, or capture r12, flush & convert to r134 plus PAG oil.
