Looks like I get to do the AC on my 91 300E

Well, I guess it's my mothers car now. AC worked great until this week, then I guess the evaporator finally kicked the bucket at 104,000 miles.

Going to be changing the compressor to the 17cc as well. I have R12 so I'll be sticking with that. Not really looking forward to pulling the dash, but am looking forward to the job.

All the vac pods work right now, but I'm probably going to replace those as well.

Wish me luck!

Unless you already have the 17cc, the change is not a simple swap, btw.

I actually consulted your thread prior to ordering it. I already have the updated condenser and twin fan setup from the later models, so I'm not sure if I'll need the new PS bracket or not. It's a late 91...

I'm not expecting any of this to be simple!

Okay, parts showed up yesterday.

The ACM evaporator is very nice; all aluminium construction.

The compressor looks pretty fancy as well. I just have a few questions before I rip in to it in a few weeks so that I can do it all at once...

The compressor tops are obviously different. I'm going to try and find one off of an E320 and put it on. Will the stock 300E hoses bolt up to it? Or should I look at getting those too?

I also know I need to get a new power steering bracket for the 17cc. That shouldn't be too big of a deal.

I already have the later condenser and dual fan setup that matches the E320's/later AC systems. If I researched correctly, the only real difference between the setup I have and the one in the later 124's is the compressor and refrigerant type. Correct?
