Water Pump?
Good morning and Happy Holidays to all!
1991 300E 3.0L 225K miles Well, yesterday morning, after driving the car around town on errands, I found a puddle of coolant under the car. Since I have the plastic part that protects the bottom of the engine, it was pooling on that peice before spilling over resulting in the puddle. I checked the expansion tank and it was empty. When I poured a small amount of coolant into the tank, it poured right out onto the driveway. I could definitely see a stream of coolant coming out from where the water pump meets the block. Water pump or is there a gasket between the pump and block? Nick |

Nick, there is an O-ring between the water pump and the block. It's difficult to imagine that interface is leaking that amount of coolant. Recommend looking with a mirror to confirm the actual leak source. Would suspect that a pump seal failed and coolant is leaking from the pump itself. If you need a replacement water pump suggest buying a rebuilt water pump from your local MB dealer.
