can anyone help please I could do to fit an oil cooler to my engine that has been marinized and is in my boat, the engine is out of an 190D
no. 602.911 20 051 881 I need to find any tappings that could be used to fit a water cooled oil cooler into the oil system, or if there is an alternative oil filter housing wih tappings in it ?. I know the turbo model has an oil cooler but it is not clear in the manual where the connections to the engine are, any help at all would be useful. regards andy |

If your engine has the original oil filter housing, there should be fittings to attach to an oil cooler. Here is a picture of a turbo 603. The rigid lines from the oil filter housing go to the oil cooler ahead of the left front wheel -
![]() You should be able to swap in an oil filter housing from a US spec 601/2/3 or tap your oil filter housing if it isn't meant for an external cooler. An option is the oil-to-coolant cooler from a 95-97 US spec naturally aspirated 606.91x. I think it sits below and ahead of the oil cooler next to the oil pan. Sixto 87 300D |

602.911 oil cooler
cheers for that, Mine is the 5 cylinder non turbo model and has no tappings in the side for the oil cooler and i have seen several filter housings that look as though they will fit with the oil cooler tappings but no one will say they will or will not work. I have been told that merc just added cylinders so most parts fit the 4/5/and 6 cylinder engines but i am a bit concerned about damaging my otherwise excellent engine. thank you for making it a bit more clear. but the oil housing are hard to find now. best regards andy
