W123 200 Poor Idle
The idle has become very poor in my 1983 M102 w123. The car recently went on a road trip to San Diego from Amarillo, and back. When in San Diego it got fluid changes. The idle at this point feels like its about to die at almost any second. Whenever a little throttle is applied, it smooths out and feels nice. Any thoughts?
Also any advice on where to find tuning advice for a carb’d M102 would be helpful. Thanks.

It sounds like a diesel loop at this point.

Volvos and Saabs used the Stromberg 175CD before adopting fuel injection. Those forums might be of some help. Jaguars used Strombergs too but I think SU was more popular in British cars.
Oh, and the vintage forum here - http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vintage-mercedes/ Sixto 87 300D Last edited by sixto; 01-18-2014 at 10:48 PM. |

Alrighty. The search now begins for someone qualified to rebuild the carb.

hey man ,, allso check your spark plugs , I had a similar issue and I though it was the carb but when my mechanic arrived we pulled out the spark plugs and it was completely blocked with engine oil ,, which means I need an overhaul , so I turned out to be cyl. 3 and 4 were not firing at all ,, honestly that was a suprise for me , for now its tuning good , but soon it will tease me again and ill be sure its not the carb .
and allso check this out ,, I looked for it for 3 months and I miss spelled something on google and it popped up : http://w123club.nl/images/fbfiles/W123/images/mercedes_carbs.pdf |
